Dear Reader,

Christian and I had a blast at Phoenix Comicon, it’s our favorite convention to attend and it’s always a pleasure to be apart of it year after year. We sold out of all our copies of Captain Unikorn, again. It’s unfortunate that we can’t afford to keep it in print, but we are looking to fix that with Kickstarter. The plan is to recolor and letter the first 44 pages and raising money to publish the next three books. Please send me suggestions on what you want to see as Kickstarter pledges.

We were on the LGBT in Main Stream comics panel with some very knowledgeable and talented folks. It was the first LGBT comic themed panel in the history of Phoenix Comicon. The audience had great questions and we made some new friends in the process. The engery in the room recharged our juices and gave us a new perspective on Captain Unikorn. It reminded us how orignal and important this idea is to the future of LGBT characters are in comics.

Thanks for reading. We both sincerely appreciate your support and look forward to see you next week. (I goofed and forgot to publish last week. My bad but we are back on track.)

Dear Unikorn Lovers,

I have noticed there is a big webcomic community in the Twitterverse since launching CU. There are some amazing people out there making prolific comics almost daily. If you’re reading this and you create webcomics, SEND me a link and I’ll post it next week.

Attention Tucson Smith Fans:

I’ll be signing copies of UNITE AND TAKEOVER: Stoires inspired by The Smiths vol. 1 in celebration of Record Store day. We will give giving out free limited edition buttons and guitar picks, get there early and I’ll give you one.

Eric M. Esquivel will be there and other artist that contributed to the books.

Dear Readers,

These are some exciting times. Now more then ever people are becoming aware and accepting of equality among gay people. I’ll never forget having debates with my family (to this day) about my views on gay marriage and how everyone should have a the right to be happy. Captain Unikorn is a big extension to my views on the subject.

Christian and I were writing up a story for Unite and Take Over anthology and Captain Unikorn was going to be the main character. We created this openly gay superhero, and Christian drew his influence from Freddie Mercury while Anderson Cooper was mine. As soon as Christian emailed me the final design of the character we knew that he had to give him his own book.

We debut this book at the Phoenix Comicon 2012 at the exact time DC outed Allan Scott and Marvel had the big Astonishing X-Men wedding issue with Northstar. We had created this book months before any of this was in the press. Captain Unikorn isn’t a marketing strategy to capitalize on the craze or to make a gay character for the sake of it. Not to say those characters were, but we haven’t really heard from them since.

He’s a big-hairy-gay-hero that kill bigots, and we wouldn’t have him any other way.

Cheers,

Henry & Christian

Page One

Dear Reader,

Today is the beginning of the weekly Captain Unikorn webcomic. Christian and I originally self-published and sold out of 200+ copies at the Phoenix Comicon and Tucson Comic-Con this past year. We decided to release the entire book as a free webcomic so that anyone around the world can enjoy it. Please keep in mind, we created this book in b&w (because it’s cheaper to print), but we plan on launching a Kickstarter project to print the book in full color in the near future.

Thanks for taking a chance and please click the follow button so you don’t miss a single page of the story.

Thanks again,

Henry Barajas
